We had a wonderful Sunday with friends. Since my husband does the cooking, dessert becomes my responsibility. The weather has been playing around a bit, so I decided on a cool and a baked pudding. Just in case…
My cool dessert was jelly. I love making colourful things!
(I know it looks like it should contain alcohol, but this was a child-friendly jelly)
I found some time today (ok, I skipped the washing, vacuuming, dishes, etc.) to do a tutorial on iheartfaces all about textures and layers. I then tried the techniques on a picture of my own. This is what I came up with.
The flowers were weaving in the wind, making them seem like they were glowing. This one branch with the bee seemed a little more stable, helping to keep the shot clear.
I think I learnt quite a few things about Photoshop in this tutorial. Definitely worth trying!

The last few days the sunsets have been beautiful. A clear, golden light falls over the house every evening.
I took these from our bathroom window.
We have been having cooler weather (under 30), so the air is clear and crisp in the evenings.
Part of the adventure of going to the aquarium, is taking the train. The younger two especially love this part of the adventure.
My oldest has gotten smart in his old age. He brought a book! You can see the seriousness he already has, though I hope he has a lot more of the smiles when he grows up. I sometimes think he worries too much.
Going home, they did quite well after a long day. My daughter decided to lie down (thankfully midday trains are quite empty) while she had her snack.
My son still loved the view, though he started counting the stations until we got home.
I have been following the I Heart Faces blog for a while and decided to sign up for the photography challenges. The current one is “Best Face Photo”. It was hard deciding which one to enter, but I ended up choosing one I took yesterday.

I love having flowers in the house. Over the weekend the bright colours of the gerberas called to me and I couldn’t resist buying a few. The slight colour change on the edges of the petals looks so much like a backlighting glow to me.
Unfortunately they are not lasting very long in the heat we have been experiencing. When the rain started coming down, I thought it would be ideal to put them outside to take some photos. My daughter decided she wanted to participate.
She had so much fun with the flowers.
“Mommy I am smelling the flower” – Why is everything a two-year-old says so cute? Must be the tone of voice!
These are my two favourite photos of the afternoon with her. Not long now and she will be like her brothers, preferring to play rather than being around mom and risking being photographed!

It was my son’s birthday over the weekend. With my husband away for his grandmother’s funeral, things got a little chaotic. Especially since his flight back landed the evening of my son’s birthday. To spoil him, we got some take-aways (his choice) and I bought a lot of doughnuts as a stand-in ‘cake’. That evening we were to sing for him…. but I couldn’t find the box I had put the candles in. So, sparkler it was.
It seemed to be a hit!
I am now trying to bake a chocolate cake for a small party for him tomorrow. With the heat, I wanted to wait until the temperature cooled down a bit. Forty degrees was a bit hot to be standing in front of a hot oven. Tomorrow morning the cake has to be transformed into a treasure chest. Wish me luck!
