Mornington Peninsula

Sunday I got the opportunity to do two different shoots at the same time in Mornington.  (I will post some images later.)  Thought to share the beauty of the location.  It was my first time in Mornington and it is absolutely gorgeous there!  The small cove was filled with yachts, fishing boats and dinghies.  I couldn’t believe how beautiful the light was.  It was just a perfect evening.

By sunset most of the clouds to the west were gone, the water with barely a ripple.

Even after dark, the jetty was filled with people fishing.  The nights really have a life of their own.

Williamstown

I decided to spoil the kids, so I took them for an impromptu picnic near Williamstown yacht club.  We drove around until we spotted a fish and chips shop.  It is a lovely little place called Hobsons Bay Fish and Chips.  I asked for 2 fish and chips.  When they realised we wanted to share, they adjusted the servings and the price, so for $5, we got a huge amount of chips.  The kids loved the wrapped fish and chips.  We found a little table and benches on the quay and had lunch watching the yachts, seagulls and the city.

Afterwards the kids went exploring on the rocks.  They found a little starfish stuck in a small rock pool, left behind by the tide.

On the way out, I saw the little ladybird.  Not what I was expecting on the beach!  It was sitting on this green bed of algae.

We had a ton of fun, but got home quite tired.  Sometimes I feel it will take a week to recover from one outing!

(As you can see, it was a really windy day.)

On the pier

A large part of the Scott Kelby Photowalk we spent on the St Kilda pier.  The wind was blowing fiercely.  I found if I wedged myself against a lamp post and kept my elbows tight against my body, the wind didn’t yank me around 90 degrees the whole time.

Walking on the pier, you hear the rigging ring against the masts.  This was definitely the sounds of my childhood.

I was really nervous taking this one.  I lie flat on the ground, hoping a weird gust wouldn’t somehow pull the camera into the water.

Afterwards we walked along St Kilda beach to find a nice vantage point (with less wind) to photograph the sunset.
