Weightlessness

A photo I took for a class assignment.

weightlessness

Maldon

A beautiful little town just a little past Castlemaine, I loved the people there.  There is a car museum full of beautiful vintage cars, lots of antiques, a mask seller and a book store amongst others.

It was really cold, so I decided to pop into the fish and chips shop for some hot chips.  A brother and sister team was running the store.  I can DEFINITELY recommend stopping there.

The quilt shop was also lovely.  Gorgeous fabrics, quilts and things.

Defining cuteness

Part of our assignment for the weekend was to photograph people.  Since these are tourist towns, lots of families were around.  The parents kindly let me take photos of their kids.

This beautiful little one didn’t want to smile, to lots of laughter from her family.  After a little chat, she did warm up to me a little.

These two sisters were gorgeous, jumping around – hopping like rabbits.

She is a twin, though her brother was not keen to be in the photo. Still barely awake on mom’s lap, but look at those gorgeous eyes …

Isn’t this a fantastic sweet?  She was such a wonderful little model.  Full of energy and lots of laughter.

Lake on Golden Point Road

One of our stops was at a lake near Chewton.  The idea was to get sunset shots. Well, from there you cannot see much of the sunset, but the environment is really beautiful and peaceful.  You arrive with this huge open lake in front of you, surrounded by hills.  The water was calm, with ducks swimming amongst the reeds.  Reflections were everywhere.  Small flowers were budding on vines growing up against the rushes.

On one side a little river was flowing out of the lake.  It make for lots of tiny waterfalls.

It was definitely a popular spot for everyone to take photos.

Below the lake were tons of beautiful views.  Different flowers, seeds and plants all over. It was sheltered, so felt like walking through a forest.  Fallen trees and cut tree trunks added to the magical atmosphere.

The sunset was mostly behind the hills, but it lent some soft colours to the cloudy sky.

Cold and wet and muddy, it was time to go home.

Vintage Cars

Driving back to Melbourne after the weekend workshop, we passed a lot of vintage cars.  I think there must be some unspoken law that drivers of vintage cars are extremely friendly.  We got lots of waves and smiles.  These old cars are truly gorgeous!

Chewton Market

On Saturday mornings there is a lovely little market in Chewton, an old mining town.  The people were so friendly and sociable, not caring too much that it kept raining on everyone.

The CFA (fire brigade) was there collecting money. This chap was really friendly and had so much energy.

Even in Chewton they like proteas.  It is always funny to find reminders of South Africa in such unexpected places.

The dog was muzzled to keep him from chewing through his lead, according to his owner.  Really  a lovely dog with such a great temperament.

This gentleman was really patient while I took his photo.  A really tall, strong man wearing lovely colours.  Warm, bright and cheerful on such a cold and clammy day.

The day just got too long for some.

Couldn’t you just see him in the mining days?

Blossoms

One of the locations we went had a beautiful blossom tree.

Every time a gust comes through, a confetti shower of small, white blossom leaves come falling down.

I got one of my fellow students to model for me.  One of the dangers of being a photography student, you have to stand in as model quite often.

I played around with this picture a bit.  I just really like the dreaminess…
