Halloween Pumpkins

Our neighbours have been great, showing us around and introducing us to the US holidays.  For Halloween, they took us to a pumpkin farm where we could pick our own pumpkins for Halloween.  The younger two came with me, choosing their own pumpkins.

It was a beautiful day with blue skies and spots of clouds. The kids had a ball.

Our First Snow

We opened the windows this morning to a garden covered in white!  It looked so wonderful, a real wonderland (can you tell we never had snow before?)

The kids had a ball playing outside.  Our neighbours are from Texas, so their kids also came out to play.  Binks, our puppy, loves the snow.  He chases the snowballs and cries by the door to go out again to play when we bring him inside.

We quickly popped over to the shops to get proper boots.  When we came back, one of our neighbours had dropped off a whole bag of gloves as well as a sled for the kids.  We are so blessed!

I am off to go play some more… SO much fun!

Dancing

The local ballet school moved to new premises, so we decided to photograph the girls to create images for the walls.  We all had so much fun!  They were so enthusiastic through a long day of costume changes, poses and dancing.

It was fabulous seeing how gracefully these girls can move.

Can’t wait to share more!

Thank you to Dance ‘n Dreams for helping out with the costumes.

Waterguns!

Usually hubby and I give a joint gift to the kids.  This year, I broke with tradition and gave each of them a watergun.  It got them playing outside!  Hubby has a bigger one that holds more water, but the kids can shoot further. Winking smile Four heavily soaked people in our household.

Accidents of course happen, but the two older brothers have learned how to make everything better in minutes.

She has the added advantage of having a really big shield…

It is awesome to see my family happy and having fun.  Nothing more special!

PS the spots on the photos are water.  Every now and then they forget the one with the camera should be neutral and not sprayed!  There wasn’t time to clean it before the next shot.

Pink Ninja

For dress-up day at kindy, my daughter decided she wanted to be a pink ninja.  It shows that she has two brothers, doesn’t it?

Swimming lessons

My youngest had her first swimming lesson!  She has been asking for a while, so we finally decided to bite the bullet and enrol her.  She is loving it! (though she refuses to let me teach her now)

Her brothers aren’t that crazy about the idea because, while she’s having lessons, I make them do laps in the pool.  I do let them go play in the wave pool at the end though, so it isn’t all torture for them!

Dress-up day

My daughter had dress-up day at school recently, which, for a 5-year-old makes a perfect day!  A friend had dropped off this giant teddy for her and she just had to pose in her dress-up outfit (which she changed later to be a pink ninja).

The studio nearly came down around her when she decided to toss the giant bear!  But we had a fun 5 minute session regardless…

The bear is now a a shared rotation between her and her brother.  They take turns sleeping with it each night.  When the eldest got sick last week, he appropriated it for himself (apparently it makes a great comforting cushion!)  It is back to sleeping in the younger twos’ beds.

Little girls and tutus

I had so much fun working with this gorgeous little girl who turned one not too long ago.  It is amazing to see little babies grow up before your eyes and having the honour of capturing the memories for their parents!  I just loved her eyes in this photo, how she peeks over the teddy bear.

She is a real little daddy’s girl.  I couldn’t help but notice how she held her daddy’s hand when they walk together and had to take a moment to take a photo of it.  I suspect fathers always see their girls as being this size, no matter how old they get!

I’ll be posting more from the photo shoots soon. I have the wonderful experience of photographing some of the new catalogue for Fairy Dance.  I don’t know who is going to have more fun, me or the kids!

Feet

Kids really do funny things with their feet!  Finally caught my youngest on camera.

Zoo trip

We had family visiting recently and, as you do, took them around to see some of the sights.  One of our favourite places to go is Melbourne Zoo.

We somehow never make it through the whole place in one day, but we get to see something new every time.  The kids loved the section with all the snakes and lizards!

My favourite is always the butterfly house.  It is the coolest thing ever to have butterflies land on you!

We discovered a part of the ocean section we had not been to before.

It really was a day full of adventure!

Working with a tripod

Things are finally calming down and getting back into routine.  One of my recent assignments has been to take a photo at night (with a tripod) that had more than one light source, take a photo in studio and then merge them.  Tricker than it sounds!  I am still playing around, but this is one of the attempts so far.

These are the two original images.  My boys have become very handy assistants!

The thing about ducklings

Kids (mostly) love baby animals.  At kinder, the kids have baby ducklings to learn about nature.  I have been photographing the gorgeous little ones with the ducklings.

The kids have been queuing to hold them, though a few are really hesitant.  One wanted to know if the duckling was going to eat him!  Just too cute for words!

And for the record: getting both duckling and toddler looking at the camera at the same time is slightly tricky!
